A proper characterful Victorian boozer tucked beside Clerkenwell Square, between Farringdon and Barbican. If you're taking public transport, use the Elizabeth line Barbican exit. There are loads of books and booths along the long bar and behind it, plus a great ale selection, though THREE weren't on during my last visit. Excellent bar snacks and a full menu. Recommended!

One of the best Sunday roasts in the city. It's on the pricey side, but the portions are generous, and every bite of meat and veg was cooked perfectly. The staff were friendly and attentive to what we needed. Book ahead so you don't miss out.

The warm, inviting atmosphere made Fox & Anchor a lovely place to relax in the evening. I had a really great visit, with excellent service from Jacopo, who was professional, attentive, and welcoming throughout. The burger was delicious, cooked just right and made with quality ingredients. I'd happily come back.

I tried the classic menu, fish & chips, beer, and dessert, and was really impressed. The fish was fresh and fried just right, with a crisp coating and delicate middle. The fries were real, made on site rather than frozen, and the huge portion came with a selection of sauces. I still couldn't resist dessert, and chose the crumble, warm and juicy fruit under a crisp topping, which rounded the meal off perfectly. The restaurant has a great London feel, with wooden interiors, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service. I'll definitely come back on my next visit to London.

The Butcher’s Board was the worst part of lunch. The meat was cold, dry, bland, and poorly presented, with no sear, crust, or seasoning. At £89, it felt completely unacceptable, especially since I’ve had much better boards at proper restaurants for half the price. Service was just as disappointing. The place was quiet, but staff were slow and inattentive, and seemed more interested in chatting and complaining aloud about their absent manager than looking after guests. I went to Fox & Anchor in London for Saturday lunch and left with a really poor impression. I wouldn’t recommend it.
