The breakfast room is small but cosy, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. My room was quiet and comfortable, with no noise from the street or other guests, and everything worked well. The hotel has a classic English look inside, with things arranged nicely. Some areas could do with a bit of renovation, but it's a good choice if you want traditional style in a central spot. The British Museum is very close, and Soho is an easy walk, with subway and bus options too.

The staff were lovely, and reception handled my room move well. I wouldn't stay again, though. It felt a bit like faulty towers, and I've stayed in better hotels for less. My first room was tiny, faced the road, and had cold radiators that wouldn't switch on, a broken TV, no bathroom blind, squeaky floorboards, and no tea or milk. With the light on, people could see into the bathroom. Maintenance came quickly but couldn't fix anything. There was an oil heater, which took the edge off, but gaps in the windows kept the room from getting properly warm. After I raised the issues at breakfast, reception moved me to a much bigger room. It wasn't road-facing, so traffic was less of a problem, but the floors still squeaked and the bathroom window still had no blind. The windows had the same rotten wood and gaps, though the radiators worked and it was much warmer. The fan didn't come on when I showered, then switched on at 2am, sounded like a plane, and wouldn't turn off. Breakfast was okay and saved me from having to find somewhere else in the morning. I'm not sure it was worth it, but I don't regret having it. The location is in an okay spot depending on why you're visiting London.

The location was fantastic, in a very quiet part of London. The bed was large, although it was two beds pushed together, and I actually slept well. Still, I probably wouldn't come back unless there were no other options, especially not to the basement. I paid over £250 for a work trip and found the hotel and room dated, with a strange smell and very basic amenities. Check-in was slow for London. There was a random stereo in a cupboard, and the furniture looked worn and overdue for refurbishment. I also had to walk through the restaurant while people were eating to get to and from my room.

For two nights starting 2 December 2025, I was in room 314, a tiny box right beside the lift. The staff were pleasant, but the room was ridiculously expensive and had nothing going for it. A curtain partly covered the TV, and the portable radiator was missing its feet. It was plugged into the only socket available.

The location was very central, with good bus connections and the British Museum nearby, but I wouldn't return. My basement room was beside the staff stairs to street level. A generator sat right outside, a light shone in all night, and I could hear staff on the stairs late at night. The bathroom extractor was outside my control. It shut off at 9pm, then started again at 6:30am and woke me. It was so loud that at first I thought a shower or tap had been left running. The room was uncomfortably hot even though I stayed in November and the radiators weren't on. The shower stayed cold no matter how far I turned it or how long I waited, though in that heat a cold shower was probably what I needed. WiFi kept cutting out, so I gave up and used my 5G instead. Breakfast felt poorly organised. Continental food was self-serve, while English breakfast was cooked to order, but the staff member checking room numbers and taking orders stood in a corner instead of by the door. No one explained the setup, and another staff member had to call me over.
