The food really impressed me. Breakfast was unbelievable, and my evening meal in the restaurant was clearly made with thought and care. I'm vegetarian and had no trouble finding something I enjoyed. The Half Moon is one of the best places I've stayed, and I travel to London for work most weeks, often staying in hotels and Airbnbs. It's in a perfect spot, with Brockwell Park close by and independent shops and cafes right on the doorstep. The staff have lovely energy and are helpful and attentive. The bedrooms are stunning. The building dates back to the 1800s, and the rooms make the most of that history, with high ceilings, heavy dark wood furniture, tapestries, claw-foot baths, and thick blackout curtains. I'll definitely be back, thanks so much!

Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed, and the free breakfast was a nice extra. The back beer garden is lovely too. The Herne Hill station is right nearby, in a nice neighbourhood, so the location is hard to beat. There was a little street noise at night, but it didn't bother us. Highly recommend!

Such a lovely pub, with beautiful rooms and an incredible breakfast. The staff made our stay feel special, and it's a great base for exploring Herne Hill and London.

The rooms are great, and the food and drinks are very good. What let it down was the woman at reception. I asked one question and got a very rude answer. She was so unfriendly that it seemed clear she didn't want to help. It's important to have someone nice on staff, so I recommend changing the receptionist.

The food was the one wonderful part. Breakfast was really good, and we also had dinner, which was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. But we couldn't properly rest, even though we're not light sleepers, and I wouldn't recommend staying here, especially in a street-side room above the pub. Our room, YOUNG, was directly over the bar, so music carried through even with earplugs, and we couldn't sleep until the pub closed very late. People on the pub terrace below were shouting, laughing, and drinking late too. The street was busy with sirens, loud motorcycles, and buses, and the old windows let in all that noise. We could also hear people talking and walking in the hall, water running in the next room, the fridge, and the nearby train station. I asked reception twice to move us to an inner room, but they couldn't help. The thick curtains were very dusty and let streetlight in from the top, so much that we didn't need lights to see. On the second night there was no hot water, so we called reception and they had to restart the boiler. Near the end of our stay, housekeeping threw away my solid face soap, which I'd left on the sink. I also use solid shampoo and conditioner. It may be an old hotel, but those rooms were very hard to sleep in.
