This was our second stay, and we'll definitely be back. The king beds are really comfortable, the showers have strong water pressure, and breakfast downstairs has plenty of choice, including eggs cooked fresh to order. There's a great pub attached too. Oscar deserves a special mention. He was there every morning with a shy smile, a pleasant greeting, and a friendly chat, making sure we were looked after. He made us feel welcome and valued at lunch as well. He quietly focused on giving good service and taking care of diners. I enjoyed walking to Euston Station, Covent Gardens, and the surrounding areas. Farringdon Station is close too if you'd rather not walk.
It's a lovely bar, and the whole team deserves credit. Juliano is a kind, professional manager, and the other staff were friendly and welcoming too. I'll definitely visit again. A couple of small ideas: a few bistro chairs in front of the bar would be nice, even if that doesn't quite fit traditional British bar culture. When I'm there on my own, I enjoy chatting with the bartenders, but standing for a long time gets tiring. It might also improve service if bar staff didn't have to turn their backs to guests. I understand staffing and cost may be a factor, but a dedicated cashier could help.
Reception were polite and efficient in my limited interactions, and I didn't try any of the food, so can't comment on it. The gym wasn't ready yet in February 2026, but the hotel had an arrangement with City Sport Gym down the road. I think that's much better than a hotel gym, and hope it continues. I used IHG points for the room, though the cash price seemed high for what you get. My room, I think a King Premium, was practical and not cramped. The bed was comfortable, the soundproofing acceptable, and there wasn't much noise inside. The bathroom is separated from the rest of the room by an odd moving door, which could feel awkward if traveling with someone. The room felt more utilitarian than cosy or boutique. It's a fairly new, business-like hotel in Clerkenwell. The location is somewhere in the middle of things: 15-20 minutes on foot to Shoreditch, 5-10 to Barbican Underground, and about 30 minutes by bus to theatre land. Clerkenwell has a nice, lively local feel, though I imagine it may be quiet at weekends. I visited midweek, so can't say for sure. A nice, perfectly acceptable hotel, but not very boutique.
Everything felt new and in great condition. There's a traditional London pub attached, as well as a more modern bar in the lobby. Breakfast was good, with eggs cooked to order after I asked. The location is handy, around a 10-minute Tube ride from King's Cross and a 10-minute walk to Farringdon station. Excellent hotel, and I'd definitely stay again.
The design and architecture make this a distinctive hotel, and the rooms are very comfortable with plenty of good workspaces. Breakfast was amazing, though portions were small, and there were lots of other food options. The bar and restaurant have a variety of spaces to relax in. The staff are the standout, helpful and professional. Big credit to Ope, a properly professional barman who makes great cocktails. The Charles Darby Sabini is especially worth trying. Strong recommendation for either business or pleasure.
