There are ample shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, including a washer and dryer. This Victorian pub and hotel still retains some original wood framing. We couldn’t get any hot water, so there was no shower, and I couldn’t boil the kettle to fill the sink for a wash because the plug didn’t work. The room was cold too, with no heating. Our friends had a fan heater, but we didn’t get one. They’d left a variety of little packets of Cornflakes, but no bowls, and there wasn’t any food available either. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

The pub felt welcoming, and the rooms were good for what we paid. We had a great stay, with staff who were helpful and courteous. I’d definitely stay again.

We couldn’t order a pint while checking into the hotel, but it was £3.20, which was awesome. The guy who checked us in was really nice too, and the rooms were reasonably priced. The only issue was a really awful smell from our toilet. Our two friends in another room didn’t have that problem.

For the money, it was good value. The place was clean enough, had warm water and a proper shower, and check-in was quick. The area’s tired, though. Even bad parts of Russia look better. There wasn’t a metro nearby. I booked just two days ahead, and this was the only place at a reasonable price: £105 here, compared with £300 at other hotels and even £60 a night for youth hostels, which is crazy.

Check-in was very smooth, and the staff were really nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and about what you’d expect from a budget hotel. We didn’t get to have a pint in the cafe, but it looked nice, with drinks at reasonable prices.
