We had the accessible room, and it was excellent. The bathroom was brilliant, with a pull cord for emergencies, and everything was well equipped. The bed was VERY comfortable, but it sat too low. It needs to be high enough to sit on and get up from a seated position.
I came for the price and location, and those were hard to beat. It was quiet, thankfully, and I liked that the Queen bed was split into two smaller mattresses, so our tossing and turning didn’t wake each other. The room is VERY basic, though. Buy soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and mouthwash at a convenience store before you arrive. The shower was lukewarm at best, and my room had no window, so remember to set an alarm. It’s worthwhile if you know what to expect.
Both rooms we stayed in had mold in the shower corners and grout. We were at the SOHO location and noticed it when I took a shower after checking in early. The bathroom paint was peeling around the mirror, the sink drain was clogged, and the shower head leaked, leaving 1 inch of water in the bathroom. We told the desk, and they said we could change rooms after 12pm the next day, with no apology, empathy or other action. When we followed up the next day, they told us to pack and come to the lobby. The desk person didn’t know about the issue and said the previous person had given us false information. We pushed for another room and got one, again with no apology, but it had black mold in the shower corners and grout too. We bought bleach spray at the Co Op next-door, but it didn’t kill it. We requested room cleaning each day as their process instructed, by telling the desk if we wanted service that day. The room was skipped three days in a row. A manager explained that cleaners pull the requests each morning, and if someone asks after that report is pulled, the desk should text the cleaner directly. No one at the desk knew this. On the fourth day I explained the process to the desk person and asked them to text the cleaning lady. That was the first and only time our request worked and the room was cleaned. The shower mold was still there.
The location was very central, in the Soho area, and there was no city noise at all. We were happy with the room, which was better than we expected, and really liked the hotel. The staff were very nice and even gave us 2 small bottles of Prosecco because it was my partner’s birthday. We were satisfied with our choice, though there were a couple of things we didn’t like. You can’t switch on the bathroom light without also turning on the room light. And you need to ask before 12h each day to have your room cleaned, even though we understand the environmental reasons for that.
David was really helpful when we needed to get to the station. He gave us landmarks to watch for so we knew which way to go. Nancy was welcoming and helped us when the self check-in wouldn’t work. The room was very clean too. Our only suggestion: make Premier Inn’s happy hour a happy five hours 😂😂
