The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the hotel has a pleasant atmosphere despite being a bit worn. The location is amazing, right by Gloucester Road Picadilly station. The rooms are otherwise nice and the bedding is clean, though I had to prop the window open with a rolled-up towel for fresh air, which didn't bother me. The cleanliness was what let the place down. The shared bathrooms were absolutely filthy and seemed to be ignored by staff. Dirty towels, hair in the basins and brown marks on the hand wipers could have been checked every couple of hours. A discarded razor stayed in the corner of the shared tub for my entire overnight visit, so it seemed nobody had attended to these facilities for more than a day. The room also had finger smudges on the lights and desk, details that would take seconds to clean. The tub itself needs replacing: its faded, cracked porcelain looks awful. With cleaner rooms and bathrooms this would be a four-star stay, but the cleanliness is below par.

Our room was small, but that was our choice, and there are larger sizes available. The hotel was very nice, clean and well staffed. There's a decent selection of TV channels and a small elevator. My only gripe was the lack of wall outlets near the bed. I travel with an extension cord, so I could get power from across the room. There's a good bus line nearby, which you'll need to get close to most London attractions. Highly recommended.

The location was excellent, pretty much across the road from the tube and central to attractions. We stayed three nights in November and had a memorable, enjoyable visit. Service, hospitality and accommodation suited our needs very well. When I changed room type, staff returned an item I'd lost. They were fantastic, and I noticed how generous they were with their time.

The staff were nice and attentive, and the hotel was pleasant enough. Breakfast was continental, with a hot option available for an extra charge. Our room, I think number 480, was on the ground floor just through reception on the right. It was basic and a bit dated, with no sockets by the bed. Huge air-conditioning units just outside the window ran all night and were very noisy. That spoiled our stay, but after unpacking and a long day we didn't complain.
