Oxford Hotel

The location was very convenient, with a supermarket, restaurants and a metro station nearby. Our room was cleaned daily, and reception gave us everything we asked for. We had a very pleasant stay.

I chose this after seeing its 4.1 rating on Hotels.com, but honestly, I should have checked the Google reviews first. Be aware that they take a £100 deposit up front and may later charge you for staff-related costs they consider valid. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels, and this was the first time I was charged £20 for a hand towel because some hair dye residue was said to have made it unusable. That’s bad practice at best, and could be malicious. Management was quite rude in the follow-up correspondence. There are plenty of past complaints about the deposit, so travellers should be careful.

It’s been a week since checkout, and I still haven’t received the £100 deposit I paid on my first day. My stay itself was solid, but the money hasn’t gone back into my account. Please arrange the refund right away. If it isn’t returned by the end of this week, I’ll have to consider legal action. Thank you for dealing with this promptly.

The staff were kind and accommodating, and the location was excellent, right by Earl’s Court with plenty of places to eat nearby. We enjoyed the stay and might come back for the convenience and comfort, though the cleanliness problems were hard to overlook. The floor was covered in dust, the linens were stained, and there was hair on the pillows. The AC didn’t work, but staff gave us a small, broken heater that, surprisingly, worked perfectly. The room itself was cosy, modern and beautifully designed, and felt worth the money. The heated bathroom floor was a highlight, though the missing toilet brush made things awkward. The facilities were adequate for our stay. We also knew about the £100 pre-authorisation at check-in, which is released at checkout, but it was still a downside while travelling on a budget.
