Paramount Hotel

It was close to the train station and shops, and the bed was clean and comfortable. But the room didn't look like the online photos at all. The place felt battered and needs attention: paint was peeling, the carpet was ripped, and duct tape was holding the bathroom light in place. The headboard wasn't secured, so it shifted and banged whenever we moved.

We were put on the top floor, which isn't accessible, so avoid booking if you have mobility problems or can't manage lots of stairs. There was mould, a bad smell in the bathroom, and marks all over the walls. The WiFi details they gave us only worked on the ground floor, so there was no connection where we stayed. Two of us could barely move around in the room. I knew it would be small, but this was too cramped and nowhere near worth the price. We only dropped our things and went to sleep after check-in, so we hadn't checked the bathroom in time to complain. Reception is only open from 3 to 8 pm, and nobody will be there until 3 pm tomorrow. The staff member who checked us in was nice, but there's nothing else good I can say. I want some kind of refund because this room isn't up to any standard. We booked just one night, thankfully. It looked nothing like the Booking.com pictures. Such a scam, look at the photos and read the reviews.

I got what I wanted here: a shower, toiletries, coffee making facilities and WiFi. It's no Ritz, but for the very reasonable price and handy location, I think it deserves five stars despite the recent negative reviews. Back home, a B&B in the middle of nowhere at the equivalent price in euros would be a good deal, I can tell you!

I stayed at Paramount hotel in December 2025, and it was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The room had no ventilation, and a really bad toilet smell, like urine, kept coming through. Perfume and everything else we tried didn't help. It made me feel sick, and I couldn't sleep all night because the bed was right beside the toilet. The room was tiny, almost the size of a bathroom. If you're reading this, please consider another hotel. This place will leave you traumatized for life.
