Premier Inn London Eltham

I arrived at 11:50pm to check in for my stay from 17th-20th February at Premier Inn - London Eltham. Most of the bill had already been paid, with just £10-20 left to pay. I was told the hotel’s card system was down, so they couldn’t take the balance. The choices offered were cash or letting them write my full card details on paper for a later charge. I was using a business credit card, so cash wasn’t possible, and I wasn’t comfortable handing over the details that way. I offered to pay the balance in the morning when the system was working, which seemed reasonable, but they refused and insisted on immediate payment despite the outage. I had to leave at 12:20am. I contacted guest relations the next morning, and they initially said they’d resolve it and refund me. Now the hotel has labelled the booking a “no show” and refused to refund the stay, even though I was physically there and tried to check in. This was a very poor way to handle a straightforward problem caused by the hotel’s own system failure.

The staff were polite, friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. It’s good value if you’re eating with kids, too. We had a lovely two-night stay in a convenient location. The room was tidy and clean, though it looked tired and could use a spruce-up.

The rooms and corridors were quiet, and there was plenty of seating in the restaurant downstairs. I stayed here while preparing for a pathology exam resit at the local Univserity and was really comfortable while studying. The room was lovely. And if anyone’s interested, I passed my exam :)

My stay was really uncomfortable. There was a musty smell in the hallways, like mouldy carpet, which made me think they weren’t being cleaned properly. The room was very dusty, and it aggravated my dust allergy until my skin flared up. The dust was less noticeable in daylight but clearly visible under the lights at night. The soap dispensers were dirty too, which made me question how clean the room had been. I spent a restless night feeling itchy and uncomfortable. This branch needs new management or a more thorough cleaning team.
