Premier Inn London Tooting

Room 119 was dusty, with crumbs on the floor and a half-eaten chocolate bar beside the bed. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned. I checked the bed frame, mattress and pillows as I always do. The mattress looked fine at first, but later I found a bed bug hidden in a seam of the fabric bed frame. Bed bugs are frightening because they can hitchhike on your clothes or luggage back to your home and start an infestation that’s a nightmare to get rid of. When we reported it, reception didn’t seem surprised and simply offered to move us to another room. After finding one in the bed frame, there was no way I’d sleep elsewhere in the building. Guests shouldn’t have to carry out a forensic inspection before sitting down. Stay far away, for your own sanity and your home.

The breakfast was fine, though cold cuts and cheese would have rounded it out. We booked several rooms, and one had a dirty carpet with snack crumbs, a spiderweb and bits of paper. We asked politely for it to be cleaned, but that never happened. They only left a fresh set of towels on the bed. Still, I’m giving four stars because the staff were friendly and helpful. You seem like a lovely team. The hotel is nice, in bustling Tooting and close to two subway stations. If we come to London again, we’d happily book here.

When we checked further, we found a bed bug in the bed and caught it in a tissue. We know bed bugs well, and this was definitely one. We left quickly and told two people at reception. Neither seemed shocked, so it’s clearly an issue at this Premier Inn, and they showed no remorse. We asked for a refund because we’d stay elsewhere, but were told they couldn’t give it to us then and that we’d have to contact head office ourselves the next day. Absolutely disgusting. Do not stay here.

The location was great, close to many of London’s main attractions, and the breakfast was excellent. My room was clean, elegant and very comfortable, while the facilities were just right for a memorable stay. The staff were friendly and professional, always ready to help with what I needed. I’ll definitely come back!
