We had to spread towels over the bed just to sleep, and I regret not taking photos of the room. There was hair, including pubic hair, on the bed and floor, several unexplained stains and a yellow mark on the sheets. The lampshade was stained too, and long black hair hanging from the light fixture looked like a shadow at first. It was clearly not cleaned properly. Service was just as poor. We waited a long time to check in, then no one showed up at checkout, so we left the key card on the desk, which didn't feel safe. The soap dispensers were only half full. I strongly advise against staying here.

I booked a few hours in a room through DayUse and had already paid, but was asked to pay again when I arrived. The manager said the hotel hadn't received the money. I was told to call the hotel on Monday about getting it back, then when I called on Tuesday they said they couldn't do anything. The manager seemed quite happy to charge customers twice over their own or DayUse's mistake, and wouldn't apologise or offer a solution. The hotel is run down too. Poor place, rude staff.

The staff were great, but it really wasn't worth the money. Our first room had extensive black mould and a shower that flooded. We were told the hotel was full, and since we only arrived at night, we had no choice. After they moved us, the second room had a towel with blood stains.

We only stayed one night, but the problems started at arrival. I had paid in advance and showed the receptionist the bank transaction on my phone, yet he said the computer showed no payment. He sent me around in circles and made me call the booking website, even though it turned out to be the hotel's mistake. I wasted 40 minutes in the lobby and had to pay again because there wasn't time to go elsewhere. I did get the money back later, but the hassle soured the trip. The bathroom dirt was pointed out to staff, who said they'd clean it, but they never did. The shower wouldn't drain: after 20 seconds of running water, it had reached the level shown in the photo, and any longer would have flooded the room. I had to make do with a sink "shower." Breakfast was barely breakfast. The coffee machine was broken, and there were just a few sad slices of packaged cheese and a couple of hard-boiled eggs. A cafe next door would be a better option.

It was easy to get around from The Putney Hotel, with Putney Station just a short walk away. Cafes, pubs and shops are nearby, and the Thames is only a few minutes off. It felt like a cozy escape in a great part of the city, and I'd happily stay again. The room was surprisingly spacious for London, very clean and modern, with a comfortable bed and a good powerful shower. The staff were friendly and helpful, and made check-in and check-out easy.
