For £90 a night, it’s good value for the location. Above £120, I wouldn’t consider staying here. The thick carpet was surprisingly clean, with no bad smell, and the place was better than the (so-called) 5 star nearby, The Academy hotel, where I stayed on another trip for double or triple the price. The room is really small, so keep that in mind if you have large suitcases. There’s no lift, which could be a problem with heavy luggage. No air conditioning either, so peak summer could be tough, though the central heating is nice in cooler weather. The bedding was comfortable. If you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room that doesn’t face the street. I couldn’t sleep the first night, even with earplugs. The English breakfast was OK, but not especially tasty or delicious.

Breakfast was great, and there’s free coffee from the lobby machine. They don’t serve dinner, so you’ll need to order in or go down the road, where there are plenty of food choices. I’d recommend the Ridgemount for a short stay. It’s close to transport and the university, though I didn’t get to use the latter this time. I stayed two nights while taking professional exams at a nearby test centre. The hotel was good value, clean, and the staff were fantastic and friendly. Thanks especially to Harry at reception for safely holding my bags on the last day and being so helpful. I asked for a quiet room and got one. Although the hotel is on a main road, at least in winter there’s little noise in the upper-floor rooms. They’re small: mine had just one free wall socket and no desk, but it did have coat hangers and a small TV. The double bed was a good size and comfortable, and the en suite was standard and well kept.

The breakfast was a lovely start to the day: a great English breakfast in a cosy room, served by charming, friendly ladies. The tea and coffee were good quality, and there’s also a free hot-drinks dispenser in the waiting room for use anytime. We had a very clean, spacious room for four on the third floor, with comfortable beds, room for our luggage, windows that opened, and effective blackout curtains. The hotel is in the centre, within easy walking distance of major London museums and the West End, but it was surprisingly quiet. It’s a historic building, so there’s no lift and it has the traditional two-faucet setup. Those little quirks add to the character of this great central spot. We absolutely loved our stay at The Ridgemount Hotel and will definitely return. I strongly recommend it to friends visiting London.

The hotel was spotless, and the staff and owners were super friendly. We booked a triple room for a last-minute theatre trip, and the beds were really comfortable. The price included a full English breakfast, with excellent service. There’s no kettle in the room, but a free vending machine is downstairs. Tubes and theatres are within walking distance, so it’s easy to get around. Good value for a stay in London.

The room was spotless, and friendly staff served breakfast. London hotels can cost a lot, and sometimes all you need is a bed, a decent morning shower, and breakfast. This place covers those basics nicely. You get a much smaller room for a fraction of the price, which doesn’t always matter. It’s a handy spot if you’re travelling by train, within walking distance of St Pancras int and close to the Northern Line, which goes directly to Waterloo.
