The calm, elegant feel of the square was a real contrast with how much there is to see nearby. Within walking distance are Sky Garden and Horizon 22, both free viewing platforms. Horizon 22 is London’s highest free public observation deck. From there, you can see Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Thames and the City skyline. The views are lovely in daylight, and the city lights make the evening feel almost cinematic. The Shard is nearby too, with its paid observation deck, as is historic Spitalfields, which is nice for a wander, a meal or just taking in the atmosphere. Sir Devonshire Square has felt like my own place from the first visit, and coming back for a second stay confirmed that. It’s on Devonshire Square, only a few minutes from Liverpool Street Station, so the Underground, national rail and Stansted Express are all easy to reach. In London, saving that time makes a real difference. I also appreciated being able to enjoy the serenity of the square and still be above the city, taking in a full London panorama, within 10-15 minutes.

The bed was so comfortable, and the shower had really good pressure. I didn’t eat, so I can’t comment on the food, but they were happy to provide non dairy milk when I asked. The room got very hot, though it was easy enough to turn it off and cool it down. The staff were friendly and professional, and the welcome drink was much appreciated. They also left mini prosecco and cakes in the room as a birthday treat. A really memorable stay.

Our room was comfortable, beautifully presented and just right for a festive city break. The reception area had a cosy Christmas feel, which made it a pleasure to return in the evening. We visit London every Christmas and have stayed at plenty of places over the years, but Sir Devonshire Square stood out for value, location, service and amenities. We were there for our annual Christmas weekend, 6/7 December, and the stay surpassed our expectations. Even though we didn’t write this until February, it clearly made an impression. Sumayyah greeted us at reception with a smile and a lovely drink, setting a warm tone from the start. Thanks to her and the whole team for such a memorable stay. We’re already hoping to come back! The area has loads to do, see and eat, and the breakfast was delicious. The fries were incredible. Our room was sooo cute, and the bed was one of the best hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. The toiletries smell divine, and the heated towel rack was such a nice touch. The hotel is beautiful, and everyone on staff was so friendly and accommodating. Thanks for making my birthday trip so special. I’ll definitely be back!

We liked the size of the rooms, and the beds and linens were wonderful and really comfortable. Mini refrigerators aren’t standard, but one was brought to us when we requested it. The water fountains on each floor offer cold still or sparkling water for filling bottles, although the one on our floor was broken during our stay. Some staff were amazing, while some seemed very junior and didn’t really know what to do. We had a good stay over Christmas. It’s a quiet boutique hotel in a convenient spot for exploring London, just a 3 min walk from Liverpool Street station.
