St Christopher's Inn Greenwich

For a one-night stay on a very low budget, this was an okay option, and I chose it to get to and from the O2 Arena without going too close to the city. The train station is right beside the hostel, yet far enough away that noise wasn't a problem. A regular bus also runs directly to and from the O2. The bar downstairs had lovely food, a decent drink selection, good music, and very friendly, helpful staff. The shower rooms were my main complaint. When I checked the shared one after arriving in the afternoon, it clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. There was litter, clothes and towels left lying around, and the floors looked dirty. I showered early the next morning, and it was still just as dirty. The hostel and sleeping area floors and doors are much older and squeakier than the pictures suggest, so earplugs are a must if you're a light sleeper. The room's air conditioning was just one small wall fan, which wasn't ideal in a full dorm during a particularly hot European summer. For the price, it's fine for one night on a budget, but dirty, neglected shower rooms are never a good sign.

Breakfast and the tasty coffee were highlights, and the price and location are convenient. But the toilets and showers need proper cleaning and disinfection: the rest of the place looked and smelled more like a club than somewhere to stay, even though the bedding was clean. Staff often seemed uncaring, sometimes passively aggressive. Check-in took ages, and we weren't told how to find our room. Management also felt inconsistent, one day an employee asked for our room number, another day nobody seemed to care. The free welcome drinks were very limited and it wasn't clear which ones counted; after a long discussion, we finally got a small beer. I'd recommend it only for a short stay or a budget trip. Clean, fresh-smelling bathrooms and more customer-friendly staff should really be basics.

There's something happening at the Belushi's bar every night, even though the hostel itself is small, and it's easy to get around London from here. St. Christopher's Inn Greenwich is right by Greenwich station, and Canary Wharf is only a couple of DLR stops away. The toilets were clean, and the showers were much roomier than ones I've used at other hostels. Staff were lovely too, especially Bambi and Laura, who were always smiling and happy to help. I came away really pleased and would happily stay here again. I found it after YHA hostels had no availability during my London visit in June 2025; the very low price made me a little unsure at first. It turned out to be great value for the room and the free drink, especially given the location. The room did have a couple of things I wasn't sure about: I was on a bottom bunk, basically sleeping at floor level, and I felt a bit paranoid about how secure the bed lockers were, even though they made sense for the room layout. It was extremely warm while I was there, so they put fans in the room. They were loud, but understandable in that weather, and I still slept well. I'd recommend the place to others.
