The Gore London - Starhotels Collezione

We really enjoyed our five nights at The Gore. It's a beautiful, historic hotel with a cozy atmosphere, and everything was clean and to our satisfaction. Breakfast was delicious each morning, and the staff were attentive. The location was ideal for sightseeing. We'd definitely come back!

This hotel was the biggest disappointment of our UK trip. We know city rooms can be compact, but our problems went well beyond that. After housekeeping serviced the room, we found a rubbish bin sitting on the bathroom counter where we put toothbrushes and personal items. I reported it to the concierge, whose apology felt dismissive and insincere. I specifically asked for the counter to be sanitized, but got no confirmation or follow-up that this had happened. For a hotel of this supposed standard, that lack of care over basic hygiene and our concern was unacceptable. Hotels we often visit in Tokyo and Hong Kong would have handled it with much more urgency and professionalism. Worse, a small sealed packet of my Aesop Lucent Facial Concentrate was missing when we left. I'm meticulous when packing and had set aside my skincare for the trip, so I'm certain it was in the room before the last housekeeping visit. I don't know what happened, but its unexplained disappearance is deeply troubling and raises serious questions about the security and integrity of the staff and procedures. Between the hygiene issue, the dismissive response and the missing personal item, we came away with an extremely negative impression and can't recommend the hotel in good conscience.

Every interaction with the staff felt warm and thoughtful, with a level of care that seemed personal. Cristan deserves a special mention for being kind, attentive and incredibly helpful, always with a welcoming smile and great recommendations. That sort of care would bring me back on its own. The hotel is beautiful, stylish and impeccably kept, with the Victorian charm you'd hope for in a London boutique stay and the comfort you want while traveling. It's tucked into a quiet, safe neighborhood, one block from Kensington and Hyde Park, and perfectly walkable to some of London's best areas. A lovely place in a fantastic location with outstanding service. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The food was outstanding, and they fully catered for allergies. Rooms were sumptuous, comfortable and well appointed. It's a very quiet hotel with a relaxed, home-from-home feel. The staff clearly care, and it shows from arrival to departure. Love this place and will definitely be back.
