The room itself was large, clean, and perfectly adequate for my one-night stay near the end of October. It was a converted basement, with a desk for computer use, though the socket underneath was awkward to reach. Getting in and out was the serious problem. Outside, there are stone steps with no handrail, impossible for someone needing support and dangerous when wet. The basement staircase has a bannister only on the open side, ending about two feet before the top. I had to kneel to push my suitcase up and off the stairs. I'm older and have mobility issues, so this was difficult. The reception is at the top of the stairs to the first floor, unmanned, with your key waiting there. The key didn't say where my room was, so I had to phone. A somewhat surly young man came to carry my case down to the basement, and a kind woman had carried it up earlier. I was surprised this place has a licence. It's definitely not accessible, and elderly or infirm people should avoid it.

Notting Hill House was wonderfully located, just steps from Notting Hill Gate tube station and the Portobello Road market, with everything we needed nearby. Our room was ready much earlier than expected, and they let us store our bags before it was ready and after checkout. The employees were friendly and very helpful, including carrying our bags on the stairs. The room was clean, lovely, and spacious, with a huge bathroom and great water pressure. We had everything we needed and would definitely return. Thank you!

The area is convenient for transport, close to amenities and halaal food. The small room was well equipped and fairly clean, and the bathroom was nice. I did find it a little dingy, with no view at all.

We booked four nights at Notting Hill House but left after the first one because the room was unsafe for our young child. On the fifth floor, the window was only 1-2 feet above the floor and had no lock, screen, bars, or other protection. Our two-year-old could easily slide it open and might have climbed out. It was around 90 degrees in the room, with no air conditioning, no airflow, and just one small fan. We hoped to open the window, but couldn't safely do that. Management brushed off our concern, saying hotels don't have window safety measures for children. We'd stayed at two other London hotels, and both had secured windows. Between the heat and lack of ventilation, we couldn't stay comfortably and had to leave to protect our child's safety. We asked for a refund for the remaining nights. They said they'd discuss it with management, but ignored two follow-ups and kept our money. There's no elevator, all rooms are at least three floors up, and the front desk is often unstaffed. I strongly advise against staying here, especially with children. The lack of concern for guest safety and comfort was unacceptable.
