The Peninsula London

The one real miss was our departure transfer. We'd booked transportation for both arrival and departure through the hotel and clearly said we had three large suitcases. At 4:00 AM, the vehicle couldn't fit them, so we had a stressful scramble to book our own Uber to Heathrow. With advance notice and premium transfer pricing, that kind of oversight shouldn't happen at a hotel operating at this level. Early departures are when precision matters most. The rest of the stay was excellent. Service was warm, polished and highly professional, and the in-room controls for lighting, climate, drapes and service were intuitive and seamlessly integrated. The cigar concierge lounge is one of the finest hotel cigar spaces in Europe, with proper ventilation, a serious selection, knowledgeable staff and a discreet, elevated feel. Rooftop views toward Hyde Park and Wellington Arch give the property a strong sense of place that few new London hotels achieve. The Peninsula brand remains one of our first choices globally, and we'll return despite this lapse. The property, design, cigar program and overall sophistication make it a compelling London base. We hope the transport coordination next time matches the standard elsewhere in the hotel. Looking forward to being back this weekend, ideally with flawless execution from start to finish. We mention the problem because details build trust at the level Peninsula promises, not to take away from an otherwise excellent stay.

Breakfast was the weak point. We waited quite a while for a table, and after the meal arrived nobody checked whether I needed anything else. It was hard to get the serving staff's attention. The room was amazing, especially the dressing room and bathroom design. Everything worked through an in-room remote, and the stay felt like what you'd expect from a high-end five-star London hotel. We've stayed at many five-star places here, and so far we like the Peninsular hotel room best.

My only major concern was checkout. A Discretionary Service Charge was added as a fixed nightly amount, and the front desk staff presented it as mandatory. They didn't explain it was optional under UK regulations or give me a choice to accept or decline. The amount was far more than I'd planned for, leaving me in the uncomfortable position of paying with multiple cards. I'd already been tipping staff directly each day. Charges like this, whether optional or standard, should be explained in advance or handled transparently and professionally, without putting pressure on guests. The rest of my stay at The Peninsula London was excellent, especially considering it was Christmas, one of London's busiest periods. Service stayed professional and consistent from arrival to departure. Check-in was smooth and welcoming, and the concierge team stood out for their London knowledge and efficient handling of recommendations, arrangements and transportation. The luxury car service was outstanding. Rides in Rolls Royce, Mercedes and BMW vehicles to Harrods, Selfridges, Mayfair and Park Lane added real convenience and value. My practical, fully equipped room included a printer, coffee machine, full heating system and a well-designed bathroom with a bidet shower and comfortable heating. Essentials were all there without needing to ask. The Flip Box made laundry, pressing and deliveries easy and private, without disturbing me. Dining and coffee were excellent, including well-prepared Eastern dishes. The lobby was elegant, and the hotel's cleanliness and organization were kept to a very high standard. The lobby restaurant had consistently good food and plenty of options. I enjoyed the well-executed afternoon tea, very good meat biryani, desserts and comfort dishes suited to Middle Eastern tastes. The menu felt varied and balanced, and everything I tried was flavorful and well prepared. Special thanks to Mr Galib Rahman, Assistant Guest Experience Manager, for his professionalism and genuine care for guest comfort. The hotel offers a refined hospitality experience, and clearer checkout communication would help keep it fair and consistent for future guests.

The staff are what lift this hotel above the rest, and I'm looking forward to coming back. The room was more spacious than I expected and extremely comfortable. The gym and pool are elite, and the dim sum, pastries and coffee were excellent. Possibly the best hotel in London.
