The Portico hotel

The shower was the best part of the room, and the bed was really comfortable. The room itself was small and narrow, a bit cold, and only average in terms of cleanliness. We could ask for fresh towels each day. The hotel's layout also meant plenty of noise from other rooms, though thankfully nothing came in from the street. The one thing that really bothered us was an alarm that went off around 7am every morning and briefly woke us. We stayed five nights on our first visit to London, and the hotel worked out to be a good choice overall. The location is great: there's a shop and bakery about a seven-minute walk away, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and other important sights are walkable, and Victoria tube station is about 10-15 minutes away. The staff were extremely friendly. When we arrived, they immediately offered to carry our suitcases to the second floor, which we appreciated since there's no lift. Anything else we needed was brought quickly. It's a solid option for a short stay if you want a well-located place mainly to sleep.

The location was great, and we were very happy with our one-night stay. Our room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, breakfast was good, and the staff were kind and really helpful. I'd happily recommend it.

We had a very good stay. The restaurant downstairs was spotless, the continental breakfast was good value, and the waitress was lovely. Everyone we dealt with, from check-in to the night and restaurant teams, was polite and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet spot about a ten-minute walk from Victoria Station, where you can catch the train or Tube. Our room had a comfortable bed, a decent bathroom, Wi-Fi and a TV, with plenty of seating, good furnishings and thick carpet. It could have been bigger, but we managed fine.
