The Westbridge Hotel

Good connections towards central London, with plenty of nearby places to shop and eat. I had a pleasant stay and would happily come back. The room was modern, well designed and everything worked as it should. It stayed quiet despite being right by a busy high street. The bed could've been a bit softer, but was comfortable enough. Staff were welcoming and efficient at reception and around the breakfast and bar area. Breakfast was very good, with a decent choice of quality hot and cold food. The pastries especially impressed me.

This was my second stay at The Westridge, and I'd definitely come again. The room was clean, big enough, and had a well-equipped shower room. The bed was really comfortable. It's well placed for Westfield shopping centre, The 02 Arena, The Olympic Park and Abba Voyage. The staff really made the visit. Everyone we encountered, from the three or four front-of-house staff to the night porter, housekeeping and breakfast team, was welcoming. They explained the breakfast and bar hours and restaurant information, and gave us the other details we needed, including a 15% discount at local restaurants. We were already planning to visit one of them, so that was a great result.

There was a nearby bakery for a quick breakfast or lunch, and the shopping centre was an easy walk, with lively shops and restaurants. For dinner, we also ate at the hotel, where they offer pizzas, a handy quick option. My partner and I stayed over Christmas and really enjoyed it. The room was clean and comfortable, and buses or the Tube made it easy to get into central London. West Ham stadium was an easy walk if you're going to a game. Staff were warm and helpful throughout, and gave us lunch and dinner suggestions when lots of places were closed for Christmas. One recommendation was an English-style Christmas lunch, and we got an extra 15% off because we were staying at the Westbridge. We highly recommend the hotel for a London stay.

The room had a huge balcony, about the same size as the room, with lovely views of the street and lights. It was spacious enough by UK standards, and the bathroom was small but sufficient. The hotel feels warm and cozy, with nice decorations in the lobby and breakfast area. There were mince pies at reception, and the breakfast room looked out onto the street and had a patio that would be lovely for summer breakfasts. Getting around was easy: Stratford Station was a seven-minute walk, Stratford High Street one minute away, and the bus station was right outside. Staff were polite and helpful. They had our room ready when we asked for early check-in on our first day, which we really appreciated. Reception also offered discounts at nearby restaurants, and the British restaurant we tried was pretty good. Breakfast was good, with a bit of everything, including eggs, bacon, sausages and pastries. Food was refilled regularly, and we always found a table. The coffee was a letdown, though. The machine only served instant coffee, which seems low quality for a four-star hotel. There wasn't enough clothing storage, just a small closet with no shelves. The mattress was too wobbly to sleep on comfortably. The shower head was odd, with no flexible one to use, making it difficult to rinse out hair conditioner. Water also covered the floor after every shower because the door wouldn't close properly, so it was annoying to step into the water each time. On the first night I called reception because I couldn't control the heating in the room. The receptionist said he'd turn it up, and when I called again an hour later, he said the same. On our last night we found a note under the phone saying the AC system was malfunctioning and might affect the room temperature. I'd have preferred someone to call us or explain it face to face instead of leaving a note. Despite these issues, we were very pleased and would definitely come back.
