The room was clean and had everything we needed, and the staff were really nice. The furniture and carpet could use renovating, but it was a good option for a limited budget. King's Cross station is less than a 10-minute walk away. The area is quiet, with plenty of places to grab something to eat.
The room was fine overall, though the bathroom was tiny, with very little space between the sink, toilet, and bath/shower. It’s a Travelodge, so don’t expect much. I could hear a continuous electrical buzz from a light all night. It was irritating, but not enough to stop me sleeping. Getting there from Kings Cross station takes around 10/15 minutes on foot, a little farther than I’d expected, though I should have checked before booking. Service was mixed: arrival wasn’t great, but the morning shift seemed much more upbeat and welcoming. We went to the bar around 9pm, when it was still a bit busy. There were about 8/9 people waiting and only one person serving, which wasn’t her fault. Drinks were expensive. £8.50 for a single felt steep compared with the cocktail bars we’d been visiting, which were around the same price. Three stars seems fair this time.
We paid a good price for a convenient location and had a quick check-in, but the stay disappointed. The meal deal in the restaurant was fine, though we could hear something scurrying around in the ceiling. My wife couldn’t get a hairdryer because they’d run out. These really should be in every room. Room 520 felt dated and badly laid out. The desk blocked the walkway, light switches were awkwardly positioned, the wardrobes were worn, and the bathroom was tiny with visible mould. Based on our stay, the positive reviews didn’t match reality. I wish I’d spent a little more on a Premier Inn.
It was a good choice for a trip when I wasn’t sure whether I’d be travelling alone or with my husband. I’d booked months ahead and wanted to be close to Kings Cross/ St Pancras. The hotel is a little travel weary, but the location is great, the staff were lovely, and our room was a decent size. The bed was very comfortable, with fresh, good quality linen and towels. We didn’t eat at the hotel, though the menu looked decent, and the in-room tea and coffee facilities were good. The room felt a bit stuffy even with the window open, but otherwise I had no complaints. The free WiFi setup seemed odd. In 2026 I’d expect it as standard, and the 30 minutes of free access was per 24 hours rather than each day.
The beds were good, and the hotel’s close to the kings cross station, which is the one real advantage for getting around. The rooms are small and barely cleaned during the stay. The bathroom is dull, and the wardrobe is very small if you’re sharing, though it’s still okay. There’s no mini-fridge or safe. Someone took my shopping bag from the hallway. It had a large drawing in it. Be very careful with your belongings, even inside the hotel. There aren’t any cameras in the hallways or elevators, so it doesn’t feel safe.
