At £500 for two nights, we expected more from a four-star hotel. The check-in was cold and rushed, and nobody told us anything about the hotel or our stay. We were first put in the wrong room category. When we queried it, the receptionist said the hotel had no king-size beds, despite one being listed in the room description. Then we were shown another room with a king-size bed, which only made things more confusing. That second room had dirty sheets, used glasses marked with lipstick or mouths, a leaking sink, and none of the cotton swabs we’d had in the first room. We reported everything straight away, but over three hours later nothing had been sorted. At 11 p.m., we were asked to move yet again because the receptionist thought that was easier than changing the bedding. It was a lot of hassle for us and very little effort from the hotel. The room they called a “suite” looked more like the deluxe room we’d originally booked. It was acceptable, but dusty and nowhere near four-star quality. The price, service, and standard simply didn’t match, and we left very disappointed.
The price was fantastic for this location, and we had a great view over Leicester Square with no noise at all. Our room 312 was clean, nicely presented, and had good facilities and a hospitality tray. We stayed one night and would definitely come back.
I’m really grateful to Aparna for helping me get to a taxi on check-out day. After five days at the hotel, I was on my own with my six-year-old daughter, two large suitcases, and her small one. There was also a walk from the hotel to the main road to catch a cab. Alice saw us struggling and pushed the luggage all the way out for me, which made a stressful situation much easier. We got into the taxi calmly and without trouble. Aparna was warm, patient, and genuinely kind. Her thoughtfulness made a lasting impression, and I appreciate her willingness to go out of her way for a guest. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks.
The room was clean and recently renovated, and I think I may have been upgraded. The space and decor were fine, and the location worked well. I was lucky not to hear any noise. The shared areas were a letdown, especially the reception, bar, and breakfast space. I never saw the reception staff member who sits inside the kitchen, and I’m not sure how that meets health and cleanliness standards. Those areas looked very different from the photos online and didn’t feel like a four-star experience. There was no room service, and the phone for reaching reception didn’t work. The room and location might be fine, but don’t expect four-star service.
We asked for a toilet brush and were told they aren’t provided, which is bizarre. The water pressure was poor, and the water was cold. Our room wasn’t cleaned on time, either. Staff didn’t greet us and instead seemed to look at guests with disgust. Gross, and definitely not a four-star hotel. One star.
