Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch

The staff had the room decorated for our Valentine’s celebration, and it was the best decoration I’ve seen. The pool was awesome, and the location was great for a young couple. Definitely one of the best hotels in London!

We went to 45 & 7th rooftop above Virgin Hotels for a Sintillate night brunch to celebrate a birthday, and it fell far below expectations. On arrival there was no clear direction, and several groups were confused about where to go. We got there at 7:30 p.m. but weren’t asked for drinks until around 7:50. The first cocktails arrived just after 8, and orders kept getting mixed up, including drink upgrades and food choices. Starters came around 8:30, but our mains never arrived. By 9:30, other tables were having the same problem. At 10, we were asked to leave after waiting about two and a half hours for food that never came. The floor manager’s behaviour was the worst part. When we raised our concerns, the manager was rude, dismissive, and verbally abusive to a guest. That’s unacceptable in any hospitality setting, especially one connected to a major hotel brand. Staff admitted they were understaffed, and it showed all night. The venue clearly couldn’t deliver the experience being sold. Based on this visit, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The pool, decor, friendly staff, good smelling soap, welcome chocolates, and steamer in the shower were all highlights. It’s in a convenient central spot for business travellers or tourists wanting to be near Shoreditch’s main shops and restaurants. A few things could be better: the lifts could be faster, the outlets shouldn’t be blocked by the bed, extra sheets would be useful, and the WiFi could improve.

The room was very clean and had everything we needed for a lovely weekend. The bed was big and really comfy, and the spacious bathroom had a very cool steam-room shower. It was convenient for getting to Liverpool station, too. There was a slight sewage smell in both the bathroom and lift, and the mini bar was extremely expensive. Aside from that, it was a pleasant stay at Virgin Hotels London- Shoreditch.
