Zedwell Greenwich

We spent a week here, and some practical things became frustrating. There’s barely anywhere to put clothes, just a few wall hooks, which wasn’t enough for the amount we had. A rail or small wardrobe would help. The bed is basically a mattress on a platform, and even though the lack of a window is clearly stated when booking, the room felt claustrophobic after several nights. Housekeeping mostly meant fresh towels and toilet paper. The bed wasn’t made every day; sometimes our clothes were on it, but on other days it was clear and still hadn’t been made. On checkout morning, our cards stopped working at 9:50 even though checkout was at 10. When we asked to leave our bags briefly, the response was unhelpful and unfriendly. Apart from one or two polite reception staff, most interactions felt rushed and impersonal. The drinks machines were disappointing too: the coffee tasted like weak water, and juice or water often came out warm. Shower pressure was very low, and the basic curtain let water spill across the bathroom floor. The location is good, the area felt safe, and the lobby was modern and consistently clean. The rooms were generally okay for basic comfort. It works as a place to sleep, but comfort, practical storage and service consistency could all be better.

The hotel is close to the bus stop, and there’s a Sainsbury's about a two-minute walk away. One bus takes you to O2 Arena, and there are also buses to Kings Cross Train Station in London. Our room was basic and had no window, but it did have a fridge, kettle and air conditioning, and we were fine with it at the discounted price. The pregnant receptionist was very friendly and gave us clear directions.

The bed was so comfortable that I slept better here than anywhere else during my stay. The room is small but nicely designed, and the ambient lighting makes it feel cozy. It has no window, which seemed odd, though it didn’t bother me much. I did miss being able to look outside in the morning to decide what to wear. Everyone was kind and helpful, and check-in and checkout were the easiest and smoothest I’ve experienced.

Islam made us feel very welcome, upgraded our room and gave us great advice. 10/10. The room was clean and minimalist, and the beds were comfortable. Islam was the best!
