Shipquay Boutique Hotel

The personal Birthday message and treat plate made our visit feel special, and the staff’s warm, enthusiastic welcome was lovely. We were also given glasses of bubbles and an upgrade. That kind of thoughtful, personal hospitality feels rare these days, and every member of staff made the Shipquay feel inviting and warm. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in Ireland. The full Irish was fresh, tasty and generous, with Ulster fry and lighter continental choices, served in a bright dining room. The attentive, friendly staff even offered post-breakfast mimosas, a fun extra. The welcome pastries and glass of bubbly were lovely touches too, making Shipquay feel special without being pretentious. We also appreciated the front desk clerk’s help finding a good parking spot, and the hostess gave us spot-on tips for pubs on Waterloo Street and places serving Derry food. Her recommendations led us to some of the best live trad sessions we’ve experienced. Our room was cozy and spotless, with plush bedding. The historic building has boutique charm, with modern comforts, exposed stone walls and views toward the city walls. The Guildhall and Museum of Free Derry are nearby. From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to get the details right. The Shipquay Hotel is in the heart of Derry’s historic walled city, and the warm Irish hospitality made the trip memorable. We’ll be back.

The Diamond room was just right, and the staff made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. They’re top class. The location is unbeatable, right in the middle of town. Looking forward to coming back again and again.

The receptionists were really friendly and accommodating, and it’s a beautiful hotel in a great location. It was easy to walk the Derry walls from there. We had an amazing dinner at nearby Blackbird and drinks at Peadar O’Donnell’s. We absolutely loved Derry.
