The food was so good, and Choc’s little quiz was a fun surprise for our group. There were 10 of us for a staff get-together, and everything felt easy from the start. We had a spot to enjoy a drink before sitting down, drinks kept coming, and there was hardly any wait for the food. The ordering was smooth, and the staff were lovely and really helpful. Thanks for having us, I hope to come back soon!

The day ran so smoothly, and the decor looked just right. Becca supported us throughout, and every member of the team helped make the day feel perfect. We first knew the Cock O’Barton was right for our wedding after meeting Alethea. She was personable and relaxed, which matched the beautiful venue’s laid-back feel. During planning, we asked for all sorts of things, from a completely different food menu to various activities, and the venue was happy to help organise it all. Alethea was quick and clear in every email, eased our worries, and made us feel reassured. We can’t thank the team enough for making it the best day of our lives. We’re looking forward to coming back for food!

The room looked better online. The bed was a nightmare, like a tombstone, and the pillows were rock hard. My back hurts today. We paid £155 for the room and £77 for the meal, but the food was basic pub fare, nothing special, and matched the menu description. Breakfast service was just as disappointing. At 9 am I asked for orange juice and got half a glass, whatever was left. My partner asked me to get him one too, but the waitress said they had run out. The latte came so slowly it could have been cold, and nobody seemed in a hurry. The staff all looked miserable, like they were going to a funeral. With such good reviews, I expected a lot more from our stay. We definitely won’t be back, and I wouldn’t fancy waiting all day for Sunday dinner either.

I’ve stayed here several times while working nearby, and it’s been brilliant on every visit. The rooms have great amenities, the shower is lovely, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Food always arrives promptly, and there’s plenty to like on the menu.

The wedding ceremony felt very personal, and the registrar made it feel special. The staff were attentive without hovering and ready to help whenever needed. The wedding breakfast was beautifully cooked, and we all enjoyed it. We also found our room clean and comfortable. The hotel sits in lovely countryside, with rooms around a courtyard, and the venue itself is wonderful. I can highly recommend it for a stay any time.
