Hotel Indigo Manchester - Victoria Station

The food at breakfast was lovely, and the friendly, helpful staff and convenient location would make us consider booking again. We’d enjoyed our stay last year and were looking forward to returning, this time through a package with Strictly Live tickets despite being an IHG member. Our clean, immaculate twin room on the seventh floor was very nice, but there was a terrible sewage smell in the bathroom. We didn’t raise it and used perfume before going in. By the next morning the smell had become very strong.

The King Premium room was comfortable and very clean, especially the box-spring bed, which we liked. Noise from neighboring rooms wasn’t an issue, though we could hear the street, trams, and trains. The tap water also had a noticeable chlorine taste. Right by Victoria Station, it’s a great base for exploring Manchester. Breakfast had plenty of choice and tasty hot dishes, though those could take a while. Room service was quick and good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay and would happily return.

A couple of blocks from the Medieval City and across from the Football Museum, the hotel also has a good restaurant and coffee shop. The building is old and sits across the street from Victoria station, but inside it feels as modern as possible. The linens are lovely, housekeeping comes daily, and the room has water, tea, biscuits, a small fridge, and plenty of storage. The front desk team were very helpful. Nothing to complain about, plenty to praise.

The restaurant was mostly empty at dinner, but they still seated guests right beside one another, which felt pointless and poorly planned. The room itself was one of the worst in the hotel: low down next to the tram station, so extremely noisy, and connected to the next room by an interior door. I could hear every movement and sound from the neighbors. There was practically no sound insulation. I hadn’t requested an accessible bathroom, but was assigned one. It was uncomfortable and impractical, with a very low, small sink and shower water going everywhere. The hotel didn’t seem concerned about guest comfort. This stay was disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend it based on what happened.
