The location is fine for a budget hotel, though it’s about a 10-minute walk to the centre and Piccadilly station. My room was only partly clean when I arrived, with marks in the sink and just half rolls of toilet paper. Service was poor overall, although one person at reception was welcoming and helpful. The cleaners knocked rudely an hour before the noon checkout and then said nothing. In the corridor they didn’t greet or smile at guests, and came across as if they hated their jobs.

This was our second visit in three months, and we were delighted with the large, freshly designed room and the upgrade. Fardeen was great company and looked after us, including helping with the complimentary drinks. Aldo at the bar was friendly and easy to approach too. Thanks to everyone, and to josh as well. We’re hoping to make it back for a third stay.

Fred was amazing, and everyone at reception was helpful and full of useful information. The place is clean and well located. I’m still in the middle of my stay, but I’m happy to give it full marks already. Hopefully I won’t have to change that later, hahaha. Cheers!

I chose this hotel because I’d stayed at other ibis hotels before, but this trip was a painful waste of money. I paid £330 for a tiny room and three days there to rest, as I’m disabled. The advertised flat-screen TV, satellite channels, and radio didn’t work as promised. Freeview had only three working channels, and reception said that was just how it was. The TV in the replacement room wouldn’t even turn on. The bathroom door also wouldn’t shut properly, and the climate control kept blowing hot air that I couldn’t stop, leaving me with heat rash all over my body. Things became frightening when the lift broke while I was on the sixth floor. As a disabled person, I couldn’t safely leave the building. I had to make my way down six flights of cold, dirty stairs, which took 35 minutes and caused a lot of pain. Reception said there were no ground-floor rooms and moved me to the second floor instead. Carrying our belongings down and across took nearly an hour. I felt unsafe and trapped, and being treated this way as a disabled guest was deeply upsetting. No refund, money back, apology, or anything was offered, just “move to the second floor.” The manager’s responses to honest Google reviews seem more focused on arguing and blaming guests than fixing obvious problems. The attitude felt rude, unprofessional, and childish. Maybe the TV issue wouldn’t bother everyone, but I needed to rest and relax, and instead I was left with nothing to watch. I won’t stay here again. There were three cheaper hotels, and I picked this one based on my experiences at other ibis properties. Never again. There are much better options nearby, with managers who don’t take honest feedback as a personal attack.

Over the week I stayed, the staff were genuinely helpful and friendly. Mr.Lukas arranged taxis for me, helped with bookings, explained directions, and showed me how to use the map for Manchester transport. When I checked in, Mr.Fardeen helped with my many bags and was always smiling. The housekeeping lady kept my room very clean, and both Tatiana were ready to help whenever I needed something. I’m staying at Mercure Manchester Piccadilly hotel from 12 to 18 Jan today, but the team here are so professional that Jessica Chapman and I will come back on 18-31 January. They really know how to look after guests.
