We checked out a full day early because we were so uncomfortable with the room, and lost the payment for those 24 hours. The receptionist didn't ask why we were leaving ahead of schedule. The facilities fell well below what we expected from Leonardo. We'd had a fantastic stay at Leonardo Hotel Bristol City, which is why we chose this Manchester hotel, so the contrast made this visit even more disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it unless significant improvements are made. The staff were polite and responsive, and the manager offered us two complimentary drinks as a goodwill gesture. I appreciate that he tried to sort things out. The bigger issue was the condition of the hotel, which urgently needs renovation. The bathroom was very outdated. It had a shower over a bath with a curtain, and water pooled on the floor whenever we showered. The paint was peeling, the doors looked aged, and the sink drain was stuck. It didn't feel like a proper hotel bathroom. There was also a large carpet stain by the entrance, which made a bad first impression. Housekeeping was disappointing too. We accidentally spilled coffee on the bedsheet on the first day, but it stayed there for three nights despite daily servicing. The manager said linens are changed every three days. I understand the policy, but a visibly stained sheet should be replaced during routine cleaning without us having to ask. The manager eventually brought fresh sheets, but housekeeping had closed for the day, so we had to change the bed ourselves.

The hotel is right in the centre of Manchester, close to a tram stop. I'm here with colleagues, and the rooms vary a bit. Mine is well equipped, with a large bed, a small bed too, and plenty of room to move around. There's a bath and shower, plus tea and coffee. Breakfast is OK and warm, though the coffee is poor, as I find in most hotels. I'd recommend it depending on the price.

The restaurant was handy and made things easier, and the price felt reasonable for all that you get. Sandra, the manager, was especially warm and accommodating. When you're far from home, that kind of welcome really makes a difference. It's clean and comfortable, and you can walk to just about anything in the city centre.

The bar and restaurant area felt soulless, like a school cafeteria. The menu was limited and the food fairly average. For a business trip, though, the hotel was fine. The location was great for the convention centre and Deansgate. The bedrooms were clean and bright, the beds very comfortable, and the staff helpful.

The lobby and Reception looked so pretty when we arrived, dressed up for Christmas. It felt warm and inviting, just like the staff. Another good stay at this hotel chain. Lovely rooms, comfy beds and everything handy, including an iron, ironing board and hairdryer.
