There were six of us for roast lunch, and we all enjoyed the drinks, main course and dessert. Plenty of food, and we were looked after really well. Dave and Michelle are surely the best hosts on the coast. Try to visit before the chef goes on holiday after 12 March. If that doesn’t work, it’s still well worth booking once the kitchen reopens.

We had a lovely evening and a great dinner at the Pub before heading back to London. My daughter and I stayed during the week, and the bed was really comfortable. Michelle, the owner, was lovely and helped with everything we needed. She answered all my messages before we arrived, and Dave came straight over to help with our room request. There’s a wonderful Bakery nearby, plus other places to eat if you don’t want to go into the town centre during the week. If you do, it’s only a short trip. Thank you so much! Definitely coming back. The room was a bit moldy, though the price wasn’t bad. I’m pretty sure it was haunted, too. The lady working the bar was amazing and helped with all our requests.

The owners, Dave and Michelle, were really friendly and helpful. They let us keep our bikes in the lock up in the garden, which also has a lovely space to sit out on long summer evenings. Our room had a double bed, a twin bed and a camping bed, plus an open wardrobe area, TV and enough sockets for our electronics. The toilet is separate from the bathroom, handy for families getting ready in the morning. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel. We were cycling around Kent and needed somewhere near Margate. The Hussars had a fantastic rate on booking.com when many other hotels were full. The lively pub downstairs doesn’t stay open late, so noise at night wasn’t a concern. There are road works, though, which could be an issue if you want to sleep late. We walked about a mile to Westgate-on-sea for breakfast. There are also shops across the road for essentials or a takeaway. If being right by the beach isn’t a priority, I’d recommend The Hussars for an affordable stay in the Margate area.

The room wasn’t the best, but it was pleasant and clean, fine for my one night work stay. The lady who checked us in was friendly and helpful, and put us at ease straight away. There’s food and drinks available downstairs for most of the day, with a nice atmosphere.
