We ended up staying only long enough to finish the four drinks my husband had ordered. We didn’t want to just walk out, but after what happened we decided against having lunch. We’d come as six at the weekend and were told there was only a table for four. One staff member, who may have been the owner, suggested we move two chairs from another table, including the one she was sitting on. My son moved them, then we heard her make a sarcastic remark about the seat being taken. It made the place feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. We expect basic courtesy when we’re out as a family, and sadly we won’t return.

Breakfast was a lovely start to the morning. The staff were happy to accommodate my lactose intolerance, and we took flapjack and chocolate cake home for the teenagers. It was a very welcoming stay and good value. The bed was a little firm, and there’s a big step into both the room and bathroom, so keep that in mind. The shower and bath were lovely.

The area was quiet and peaceful, with a children's playground across the road. We also ate at The Kings Head up the road, where the steaks were fantastic and worth the price. We spent three nights at The Fountain Tea Rooms. It’s a quaint B&B with clean rooms, a comfortable bed and a good range of facilities. Breakfast in the cafe below was amazing, well presented and really tasty. There was plenty to choose from, from a full English to scrambled egg and mushroom on toast, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The staff were friendly and helpful. We’d recommend staying here, and thanks to everyone who made it such a lovely visit. X

Breakfast was included and cooked beautifully, and the price was good. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed. The owner and staff were all lovely, friendly and very helpful. We were lucky to find this little place. We had a wonderful stay and left smiling. I really can’t recommend it enough.

The staff were friendly and professional, but the food fell short. My tuna melt was more like a sandwich than a toastie. The cheese should be melted and it should arrive hot. Thanks.
