Holiday Inn Express Middlesbrough Centre Square

The room had everything we needed, and the bed was so comfortable. The food was delicious, the hotel was immaculate and the staff were really friendly. Easily the best Holiday Inn we've stayed at. We'll definitely come back.

We chose this hotel for a Skindred show at Middlesbrough Town Hall, which is just across the road. There’s plenty of parking at Cleveland Centre car park on the hotel’s third floor, with a door leading straight into the hotel. Our room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, a double sized walk in shower and a good view over Centre Square. Reception gave us a friendly welcome. I could order vegan sausages and vegan baked beans at breakfast, though there weren’t any mushrooms. Handy for Middlesbrough centre, with decent facilities and great staff. I’d happily stay again.

The room stayed cold for a while because its heating wasn’t working, so I had to use a small heater. Breakfast was standard. I wouldn’t recommend the menu food, it was poorly cooked. Better to eat at one of the local places.

Getting from the car park into the hotel was difficult in my wheelchair. I had to take a downward ramp out of the parking area and go around the building on the street to reach the main reception entrance. It didn’t feel friendly for wheelchair users, and moving my electric wheelchair through the thick carpet in the room and hallways was hard too. The food was a letdown as well. My daughter wouldn’t eat breakfast because the dishes weren’t clean and the eggs looked green. I’ve had amazing stays at other hotels, so this was very disappointing. We’ll choose our next hotels carefully. This place should learn from the Newcastle branch, which gave us a truly amazing experience.
