Breakfast was a real highlight, cooked to order and served with great care. The waitress even checked about allergies. The room was clean and comfortable, and much quieter than I expected across from a major hospital. There’s plenty of good-sized parking, and reception gave us a warm welcome. It’s only about a 10-minute drive from Middlesbrough football, so I’d happily recommend staying here for a match.

The staff are amazing, and the location, room and comfy bed were all good. I’d stayed here before on a weekday and everything was amazing then. This time, on a Friday night, breakfast was much busier: the waiter was dealing with too many guests at once, orders got mixed up and parts of ours were missing. I felt sorry for him. Maybe the hotel could use pre-booked breakfast times to avoid everyone arriving together.

The breakfast had a good selection, but it was all cold, even the hash browns. I’d probably get breakfast at the Toby next door next time. The car park out front was nice, and the reception area was laid out well with a warm welcome. My room was clean and bright, though far too hot for me at 21°C.

The Toby on site is excellent for meals, and there’s good parking. It’s also handy if you have family at James Cook hospital. The hotel is very good for a stay, centrally located and easy to get around from.

The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and the service stayed top-notch throughout. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated. We had a fantastic stay.
