Metro Inns Newcastle

We checked out within ten minutes because the place was dirty and cold, and alarms kept going off. It's also in the middle of nowhere. They refused to refund us. If a jail-like stay sounds appealing, book here. The photos are false advertising!

We lasted less than ten minutes in the room. There was hair all over the bed that wasn't ours, the lights didn't work, and neither did the TV. For what we paid, we expected a toilet in the room. Walking along the corridor, we saw rooms left wide open with loads of mess. We'd rather have slept on the street than there. The hotel was an absolute abomination. The reception smelled strongly of damp and tobacco smoke. When we asked for a refund, the receptionist laughed in our faces and said, “you have no chance”. Absolutely disgusting customer service.

We had booked a month in advance, then got a last-minute message saying, “Do not arrive as you won't be checked in.” That wasn't professional. The outside of the hotel also needs repair and a clean. I wouldn't recommend booking here, especially well in advance. Maybe a last-minute booking would be fine, who knows.

The showers and toilets were super clean, and the staff were very accommodating. We stayed one night with our three kids while travelling from Scotland, needing somewhere near the airport before an early flight. Separate rooms were fine by me, and it was perfect for putting our heads down and relaxing. Toby carvery is right next door.
