I stayed here for work a few years ago and had a poor experience, so I was dreading coming back. The place has changed for the better, though. I’ve just spent two nights here and was very pleased. The rooms seem much more modern now. They’re basic, but clean, with USB chargers, and the bed was comfortable. The food was amazing on both nights. The staff deserve a special mention too, as they were always helpful and polite. My only negative was that parking costs extra and is in a car park across the road. I’m very impressed overall, and it’s good value for money.

I stayed one night on a business trip and found it excellent value for money. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the room was clean and well appointed. It had some nice extras, including a small night light by the bed, a top lit mirror that was handy for doing my makeup, an opening window and blackout curtains. The bed was comfortable and the towels were lovely and fluffy. Breakfast was fairly basic but enough. There’s no parking on site, but a public car park is a two minute walk away. I paid £8 for 24 hours.

The food at The Little restaurant was surprisingly good and great value, and Chrissy was a real credit to the hotel. She was cheerful and charming while covering reception, the bar and serving food. We stayed one night for work after booking a day room on 3rd February 26. The room was clean and comfortable, which was a pleasant surprise after mixed experiences at other Travelodge hotels. If you’re after five-star bells and whistles, this isn’t the place, but it’s a decent, good-value hotel with friendly staff.

The main downside was the noise. Police had to be called about rowdy guests, and sound carried clearly from nearby rooms. Parking is also difficult: there’s no hotel car park, street restrictions apply 24/7, and the few nearby free overnight bays are limited. You may find free parking at the end of the one-way street, but that can mean a walk back. The bed was comfortable enough and the room a fair size, though the half bath wasn’t suitable for someone around 5ft 10 of average build, since you have to sit upright. Breakfast looked a bit tired but was okay. It’s easy enough to find and was at a reasonable basic standard for a lower-branded hotel. For a single night to get some rest, it’s doable. I can’t fairly give it three stars based on my stay, though next time I’m in the area I’ll try to get my usual hotel.

The breakfast was pricey, so next time I’d go across the road to Weatherspoons for half the cost. The room itself had clean linen and a clean bathroom, and I liked being able to switch the heater on and off. Staff were friendly, and the corridors were wide and well lit. The website said toiletries were provided, so I hadn’t brought soap, but both the sink and shower soap dispensers were empty. I’d stay again.
