We were staying in a cottage a few minutes' walk away, not at the pub, but had a lovely light lunch there the day before too. The Sunday lunch was the best, everything absolutely delicious. It's a fantastic, very dog-friendly pub, and every staff member was so friendly. The service was brilliant. I'd definitely recommend it.

After a really bad experience at the Golden Lion that evening, we went farther up the road to the Castle pub and had a much better time. The bar staff were lovely, polite and friendly, and even brought our drinks over to the table. The meal was very good, and they showed respect to the elderly. We plan to visit Newport more often and will certainly head back to the Castle pub.

The roast dinner was gorgeous and came in a generous portion, while the crumble dessert was mouth-watering. I also liked that they had a small menu alongside the bigger main dishes. Not everyone can manage a full roast, and more places should offer that. The pub itself is stunning, and the staff were so attentive and friendly that I couldn't fault them. Keep it up!

We booked ahead for our family of eight and ordered in advance. Everyone enjoyed their main and dessert, and lunch was thoroughly enjoyable. Great service, and many thanks to the team for a lovely afternoon.

The beer garden was gorgeous, and the food was delicious. Staff were brilliant about my peanut allergy and guaranteed a peanut-free kitchen. They also had plenty of vegan choices for my partner. We'd absolutely come back.
