Coldra Court Hotel

The meal was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the food came promptly without making the evening feel rushed. Compliments to the chef for the care and attention in each dish. Gabby made us feel welcome as soon as we sat down. She knew the menu inside out and gave thoughtful recommendations, answering our questions confidently. She was attentive at just the right moments without hovering, and handled every request with a positive attitude. A fantastic meal made even better by outstanding service. Gabby is a real credit to the team.

The room was impressively clean and spacious, and Joel at reception gave our stay a warm start. He explained things clearly, was full of energy, and upgraded us to a superior suite with two double beds, a TV, shower, and a pleasant courtyard view. There was a good selection of tea, coffee, and biscuits, though we found small holes in the bedding. The pillows were comfortable, but the beds weren't great for sleeping if you're used to a super king. Even in a quieter part of the hotel, people ran through the corridors, shouted, and knocked on doors late at night. The pool, sauna, and steam room at Coldra Court are out of order until late March. The gym was available, and we were also given access to sister hotel Celtic Manor. We used its pool, sauna, and jacuzzi, but it was busy with families. We later learned we could have used the Dylan gym instead, which is quieter, more member-focused, for lane swimming, and doesn't allow children. Good to know ahead of time. Parking on site costs £13.50 overnight, which felt steep for hotel guests. They also took a £50 deposit in case we opened a bar or restaurant tab, refunded after checkout. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but relaxed in the bar, watched football or rugby, and heard a live singer at 9pm. Drinks were pricey: about £5 for non-alcoholic drinks, £7 a pint, £3.50 a half, £7 for non-alcoholic cocktails, and £10 for cocktails. Check-in starts at 4pm and checkout is 11am. Staff kindly supplied a razor and shaving cream when I forgot mine, and shower caps, shower gel, and toiletries are also available on request. We enjoyed our visit and would consider returning. It's a clean, spacious hotel with excellent staff and good facilities, although some were temporarily unavailable and a few things kept it from five stars.

My daughter, who has Downs Syndrome, came along for a birthday treat and they treated her like a queen. She loved it, and we'll definitely be back. The room was fabulous and very comfortable, the staff were wonderful, and both breakfast and dinner were lovely. A relaxing stay, 10/10.

Alex was fabulous as our waiter at The Rib at the Coldra Hotel, looking after everything with humour and grace. I had the sirloin, cooked perfectly medium rare, and it was the best I've had in a long time. A delicious meal, and it really made my Dad's 70th. Thank you!
