The beds were so comfortable, like getting a hug after a long day, and the staff gave exceptional service. We had the Sunday carvery, with huge portions. It looked so delicious that I forgot to take a picture. Thanks to the receptionist who persuaded me to book a table, I'm glad I listened! The hotel is about five minutes from the station, which is a real plus if you don't know the area. Definitely coming back!

The location worked perfectly for us, and room 219 was clean, with an excellent view. We were very happy with it. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and we had a great welcome at The great Western Hotel Newquay. The Steam bar team were fantastic, especially Paula and Amanda. They took time to chat, listened to us, and gave us great advice. Paula and I had a bit of fun talking about seals. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone. Five stars.

Parking is available but spaces are limited, so book ahead. It costs £10 per night. The staff were fantastic, and we loved staying there. This is a clean, fabulous hotel in Newquay Town, well worth a visit, and I'll be back. Our room was a good size, with an en suite, TV, kettle, and a really comfortable double bed. The food was lovely with a great choice, though the wine was a bit expensive.

The Christmas menu was delicious, with generous portions. I had the turkey with all the trimmings, and there was plenty of veg. There was so much food I regretted ordering the third course. I'm gluten free and they even served cauliflower cheese and a GF Yorkshire pudding. For a pub chain, we were all really impressed. I'd recommend it for a Christmas do if you don't want to spend silly amounts. We went for the Christmas Menu in Dec 2025. Booking was easy: they needed a deposit and pre-order, but the link to their app made that straightforward. Each person can pick individually, or one person can choose for the whole group. We ate on a Monday, so it was fairly quiet inside. The table was beautifully set up and really Christmassy, with crackers, fancy cutlery, water, and glasses already laid out. I chose three courses, and at £35pp it was really good value. The staff were attentive and friendly.

We went for a meal on 26/02. It felt a bit like a sports bar, and my wife and I both ordered fish and chips. The fish was well cooked, though the batter was dry, and neither of us liked the oily flavour. We weren't convinced it was haddock or cod. When we asked, the waitress said haddock; we disagreed, she checked, and came back saying it was hake. Yeah, right. We both gave up trying to guess what the fish was. St Austell brewery should be clearer about what fish they serve. They don't just put meat pie on the menu, they specify beef or chicken. Whatever that fish was, we weren't keen on its flavour. 🤔
