Premier Inn Newquay - Seafront

Sandy deserves thanks for a lovely breakfast. The location on the front is great and handy for the station, and both our room and the dining area were spotless. The shower pressure was low compared with other Premier Inns, which meant having to shower for longer. Whitbread, who owns Premier Inn, aren't saving water that way. The free WiFi was painfully slow too, so I found it much easier and quicker to use my phone's data.

The beds were great and we slept fairly well, so I'd happily book again. I usually recommend Premier Inn and don't often have problems there. We paid around £60 in winter, which I didn't mind too much, and at £45 or less I would barely have minded at all. But in the height of summer, with higher temperatures and prices, the room's air con and window problems would have been much harder to deal with. We'd booked an accessible room for two, but it was only prepared for one, with one towel and one set of pillows. We were tired, so we shared the towel and each used one pillow. The room was very hot, around 26-27C, and the small window was sealed shut. When I couldn't get the air con working, the evening staff turned it on downstairs. It was broken in the room and could only be controlled from the ground floor. I had to wait outside in the bitter cold while the room cooled, then couldn't adjust the heating when it got colder overnight.

The beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet, with a good location. I'd definitely recommend booking a sea view room, and breakfast was fresh, tasty and filling. The staff were very friendly and the service was great. My only mild criticism is that the rooms feel a bit tired. There were mouldy patches in the bathroom sealant, and the cleaning could be better.

The underground car park and the parking at the rear are easy to reach through an internal door and lift. I've stayed at lots of Premier Inns, and this one's easily the best for its location, sea views over breakfast and incredibly friendly staff. The food is what you'd expect from a Whitbread, but it's always tasty, piping hot and nicely presented. Gold star.
