I wish I'd read the reviews first. Why put a hotel above a nightclub? It clearly has the same owners, so the club didn't just move in afterwards. While it's open, there's no way to sleep here. It's unbelievably loud, and asking people to pay for this is completely unreasonable. I'll be asking for a refund.

The location is good, close to everything, which is a shame because the noise is awful. Nightclubs right opposite go on until 4 am, so it's not the place for peace and quiet. Properly fitted windows without gaps might help keep some of the sound out.

The room was large, but the double bed was tiny. The place felt run down and shabby, and there was a disgusting smell in the corridor and stairwell. Our windows faced a street full of nightclubs, with shouting, loud laughter and screams on and off through the night. They reached all the way to the floor, making the room feel exposed, so we had to keep the curtains closed. Traffic was fairly noisy in the morning too. Then an impatient cleaner kept knocking while it was clear we were still in the room. The reception wasn't staffed, and nobody answered when we tried calling. The phone just rang, with no voicemail or mobile number available. Because of that, we couldn't leave our bags at reception on the last day when we checked out.

We needed somewhere to stay for the gin and rum festival, and this place was only a few minutes' walk away. The host was friendly, and we weren't too disturbed by the nightclub above us. The room was nice, though one cup looked full of dust and there was only one teabag. Not a big deal, and everything else was fine. We’d stay again. The cathedral view from our room was a bonus.
