The ingredients seemed really high quality, and the portions were generous. The food was absolutely delicious, and it’s a lovely pub I’d happily visit again. My arrival felt awkward at first, since nobody greeted me and I wondered if I’d come to the wrong place. Once someone spoke to me at the bar, though, that passed and the meal was a great experience 😂

There’s a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I have Coeliac Disease, and they knew how to handle it, with most dishes adjustable to be gluten free. My sister and I both had the gorgeous fish pie. We were lucky to get a table for two without booking, but I’d recommend reserving one if you can. I’d definitely come back and try something else from the menu.

The room had loads of character and was lovely and cosy, with a large comfy bed, free WIFI, and a freestanding ball and claw foot bath in the en suite. I stayed for one night while working away and really enjoyed it. Downstairs, the bar and restaurant were packed even on a Tuesday night, which I take as a good sign. I hadn’t realised it would be so busy, so I didn’t eat there, but the food looked good and the portions seemed generous from what I saw coming out. I’d make a special trip to visit again.

The portions are massive, and the food quality is way above anywhere else I’ve been. It costs a little more than standard pub food, but this is my go to restaurant for a treat. The staff give top quality service too.
