Sutton Staithe Hotel

The cooked breakfast was the best part, especially the young man serving it, whose customer service was very good. Pets cost £20 and breakfast was £9 per person. That service is why I gave it 3 stars; otherwise, it would easily have been 2. Bedroom 11 was spacious, though the layout wasn't great, and it wasn't particularly clean. The shower door was dirty, the skirting boards clearly hadn't been dusted for a while, and the mirror light didn't work. The heating was off in the room, and the fan provided wasn't enough. There was no heat in the bathroom either. We only found another heater later, at breakfast. The building feels quite dated, and the hallway urgently needs redecorating, with marks all over the walls. You couldn't get dinner there in the evening. At £98, you can find somewhere much better that has heating.

A lovely surprise, with more space in the restaurant than you'd expect and a welcoming atmosphere in both the bar and dining room. The food was fantastic, the staff were great, and it's dog friendly too.

I can't comment on the stay itself, but the booking service was frustrating. For over two weeks I called to arrange a room for two adults and our six-year-old, since the website wouldn't let us book for three. They confirmed by phone that our chosen night was available, and each time said management would call me the next day to sort it out. Nobody ever called back. We booked somewhere else.

The people were very helpful and accommodating, and both breakfast and dinner were good. It's dog friendly, and rooms 1 and 2 work especially well for dogs because there's no passing foot traffic. The location beside a small boat yard is ideal. Highly recommend.
