Premier Inn Nottingham Arena - London Road

The freshly cooked breakfast was a nice change from a buffet, and the rooms were really clean. Everyone on staff was super friendly, and the kids even found little Christmas gifts waiting in our room. I’ve stayed at a lot of Premier Inns, and this one’s my favourite so far. Great value too. I’d definitely recommend it.

The room had plenty of space, but it felt dated, like the rest of the hotel. It worked well enough for one night, though. The heater was quiet when set to 18C, but turning it up to 20C brought a high pitched noise that carried on all night. Finding reception was awkward too. The signs weren’t clear, so guests tried the wrong door and had to buzz the intercom to be directed to another entrance.

The arena is very close, which is the one thing this place has going for it. As a regular at Premier Inn, I found this city centre stay below par. The room was freezing because the heater didn’t work; reception only brought a plug in heater after I complained, and it should have been checked before anyone checked in. There was mould all over the bathroom ceiling, our towels weren’t changed during our two night stay, and breakfast came burnt or undercooked. I’d probably choose the Leonardo across the street.

The restaurant is down in the basement by the canal basin, which gives it a bit of character. Meals were the usual, served efficiently and in good time, with decent portions. The room was clean and didn’t feel worn, though there’s no air conditioning if you need it. It’s a handy spot for the city, ice rink, train station and even the football grounds. The hotel didn’t seem busy, and parking was available at a fair central rate, though it’s independent of Premier Inn.
