The location was the best part. It’s a short walk from the car park, castle and main city centre, and checkout was easy. The room itself was fine, but the bedding and towels looked old and didn’t match. Our bathroom was along the hall. It was clean, but the shower was in poor condition: it wouldn’t stay attached to the wall, so you had to hold it, and the cable was so short you had to sit down to wash your hair. The walls were thin too, and at the weekend we heard plenty of noise from people returning after nights out. We arrived without having given them a specific arrival time, because we hadn’t seen the messages on booking.com. That was our mistake, and we did apologise, but the man on the phone was very rude and shouted at us. We then waited 45 minutes for someone to check us in. They also took an extra service charge. Next time we’re in Nottingham, we’d pay more for somewhere that felt more legitimate.

The room was very clean, and the place is basic but close to town and the bus station. Still, I didn’t think three nights were worth £200 plus £40 toward any breakages. The TV kept switching off, and BBC 1 was the only channel I could get. Heating came on for a short while in the afternoon, so the room was cold in the evenings and mornings. I left before the full three days because of the cold. Wouldn’t recommend it.

A nice little hotel for a good price. The room was tidy and clean, and the bed was really soft and comfortable. It’s an easy walk to the main city centre, and check-in was simple. The host was polite and friendly. The building is old, so you can hear people on the stairs, but it didn’t bother me during my stay.

I never got into the hotel, and I’m trying to get my £85 back. I’d received an email saying check-in was from 3 pm to 9 pm, with an extra £50 damage deposit. I arrived at 8 pm, but nobody was there. A sign gave a number to call, and they said I’d broken some made-up rule and would have to wait 45 minutes for someone to let me in. It was my wedding night, and I had to leave the party to sort out check-in and pay the deposit. The people on the phone were rude and acted entitled when I asked for my keys so I could get back to my celebration. I waited, never got inside, and my wedding night plans were ruined. Very poor business standards. Don’t book here.
