The location and price are hard to beat for an independent hotel, and the staff were warm and welcoming. I’d seen complaints about cleanliness, but it was actually much better than I expected. The hotel looked pleasing, and the amenities were fully stocked, with shampoo, soap and lotion, plus a microwave and TV. I was really pleased for the price and will come back.

I stayed from 17th September to the 19th, and it was the worst hotel experience of my life. After seeing a silverfish on the wall in my ground-floor room around 11pm, I complained the next morning. Management apologized and moved me next door, but staff disagreed when I said that room might also have silverfish. Within a minute, one crawled on the wall. I reported it straight away, and staff saw it themselves. They moved me again, this time to the fourth floor to make sure the room wasn’t infested. When I got back around 2am, I found one in my bed, another on the wall and one on the ceiling. I didn’t sleep in the room and stayed in the lobby until the morning staff came to reception at 10am. Management refused a refund or any compensation, saying they had provided accommodation both nights, even though I spent the second night in the lobby. Avoid this hotel. It should be shut down by the health authorities until they sort out the pest infestation.

The room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed for the price. The windows were worn and difficult to open and close, which was a minor annoyance. Staff were helpful and professional throughout, and breakfast was excellent. It’s in a quiet area, still a reasonable distance from the city centre. I’d consider staying again.

The rooms smelled foul and dusty, with hair everywhere and silverfish crawling on the beds and walls. I complained at reception, and they helped me check other rooms, but every one had the same problem. I had to cancel the booking and am still waiting for a refund. It was late, so I had to book another hotel and go there with all my luggage. Since I cancelled because the rooms were untidy, I expect the hotel to refund me soon.
