The meal was the highlight of our stay at the George. Dinner was outstanding, every part of it spot on, and breakfast was the best I’ve had in ages. The staff were just as good, always ready to help. Our standard plus room was comfortable and warm, with a very comfy bed and no outside noise since it faced inward. The bathroom paint was a little messy, though everything worked. The room shook once or twice when someone walked by. The hotel is being renovated gradually. We live nearby and have already decided to return for more of the food. We’d stay again and try one of the pricier rooms for an even more luxurious visit.

The open log burner was a lovely touch on a cold, rainy day, and the food made our Sunday lunch feel like a real treat. We tried a few different dishes, and everything was delicious, made with good ingredients and care. My family and I walked in without knowing what to expect, and everyone working there gave us such a warm welcome. The interior is cosy and beautiful, and the team were kind with plenty of personality. It really made our day.

We’ve eaten here for lunch and dinner and have never been let down. Breakfast is especially well looked after, with second-to-none attention from the staff. We visit The George at Oakham regularly and have had a great stay each time. Gregory, Paul, Nick, Matt and Lamon always take such good care of us. Thank you.

The food was excellent, and the staff gave us a lovely, friendly welcome. We’d definitely stay again. Since it’s an old building, the floorboards overhead were very creaky and loud, so next time I’d ask for an upstairs room.

We turned up as a group of seven on a busy Saturday without a booking, and the team quickly found us a table and made us feel welcome. The fish and chips were fantastic, and the service was superb. We all hope to return soon.
