There was no water in the shower at all, and the taps were dry. My wife and I had driven from Edinburgh to Oxford exhausted, hoping for a hot shower before heading to a conference. I checked in at 6:00 PM, but we had to wash our faces as best we could and leave within 30 minutes. We got back around 10:00 PM, and there was still no water. I messaged the hotel through Booking.com and got no reply. By morning, it still hadn’t come back. I checked out at 9:00 AM after just one night, thankfully. My wife was menstruating, which made the lack of basic hygiene facilities disgusting and unacceptable. I told the receptionist in person as we left. She casually said, "I saw your message last night. Sorry." That was the whole response. This was the worst hotel stay of my life, beyond disappointing, negligent, and inexcusable.

Room 6 was a disappointment. It was small, the shower was useless, and there was no shower gel or anything like that, which seemed like an oversight. On the plus side, communication was excellent and let us arrive late. They also let us leave the car there while we shopped in Headington. The location is great for Headington.

Julie was wonderful and helped with anything we needed. Parking at the Guest House was no problem, and the bus into Oxford City Center is easy to catch right across the street. We stayed to visit The Kilns, take an Oxford tour about the Inklings, and eat at the White Hart. All of those were excellent. Great stay!

The door keypad is tiny, so at night you’ll want a good torch and decent eyesight. Otherwise, the facilities were clean and the service friendly. Booking was easy, and the instructions for arriving late were clear and simple. Excellent service.
