We stopped in for an unplanned lunch at this beautiful country house hotel and ended up booking a night back, with the new chef’s tasting menu. The lunch menu is new and really creative, with sandwiches that seem inspired by Stockholm menus. I loved the combinations, like beetroot with Yorkshire blue cheese and toasted sunflower seeds on beer yeast bread, and chicken with apple, curry mayonnaise, bacon and fried parsley. The whole team gave us incredible service. Special mention to Eva, who was attentive and charming. We thoroughly recommend trying the relaxed dining experience in such a lovely atmosphere.

The place is quiet and secluded, and from check-in through checkout we felt well looked after. The estate owner even came over at dinner to introduce himself and have a chat. Don't miss the restaurant, it's award-winning for good reason. I'd suggest taking a private car or taxi. We used the X62 bus, which dropped us more or less at the roadside, then we had to walk up the long, fairly hilly driveway.

The food was excellent, with something different each evening, full of flavour and beautifully presented. It felt polished but relaxed, never stuffy. Staff were kind and welcoming, and especially thoughtful with our young daughter. She got a proper children's menu every night. The building and grounds are stunning, and our cosy, very comfortable room had a beautiful countryside view. It was a genuinely relaxing stay, and we're already talking about coming back.

My family and I loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms were phenomenal, and the outside was stunning. After breakfast, we enjoyed a walk in the fresh countryside air. We only ate breakfast, but it was delicious. We'll be dreaming about that whisky porridge forever. The lounge was really cosy for a drink at the end of the day. Thank you, Cringletie!

We spent a week here and would certainly stay again if we return to the Scottish borders. It's a beautiful, peaceful spot about 10 minutes from Peebles. The staff provided excellent service, and we had most of our meals at the hotel. They were varied, elaborate and delicious.
