We had a carvery today, 25.1.2026. The food was very bland, and I couldn’t really eat because the table was rocky 😜😜. The two ladies serving at the bar and carvery counter were very rude. The woman at the carvery kept tapping furiously on the blackboard when I asked what meats were available, as if I should just read it. She also kept complaining that she had no staff because people had apparently called in sick. I didn’t really need to hear about that. A little customer service would have been appreciated.

Last Sunday afternoon, they put on a brilliant, well-organised carvery and served a top-class three-course meal for 41 people 😋. The cherry cheesecake was the best I’ve ever tasted. Well worth a visit.

Our group wanted a carvery on the way to Lands End, so we stopped here on Sunday while visiting Cornwall. I usually hate carveries and refuse to have one, but I didn’t want to be awkward, and I’m so glad I joined in. It was the nicest dinner I’ve had in a long time. The meat was cooked perfectly, there was a fantastic choice of sides, and the staff were brilliant. Thank you!

We came for an afternoon meal, not to stay at the hotel, and sat outside with four adults and two dogs. It was quiet on a weekday afternoon outside school holidays, which suited us. There was a good drinks selection, and everything we ate was delicious. The 3/4lb burger was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the seafood salad and ham and cheese salad were delicious too. Highly recommend.

The buffet breakfast was great, with the usual cooked choices like bacon, sausages and eggs, plus cereal and fruit. The staff I met were friendly, and the place is good value. It’s right on the Penzance promenade. The rooms are basic but clean and functional; my only complaint was a lumpy mattress that could use replacing. They provide basic shower gel, so bring your own shampoo. I’d recommend staying here.
