The room was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was nice, so the human guests were well looked after. But this is our second stay and the dog experience was the same as last year. Dogs may be allowed, but there was no bed, blanket, treat or even water bowl for her. The £20 charge seems to be the only part they’re happy about. They did leave a “four legged family member inside” hanger, as if the dog-friendly part were up to the owner alone. Breakfast was awkward too. Dogs can’t go into the dining room, so we sat in the lounge area outside. It was comfortable enough, but we arrived between food refills and kept having to peer in to check whether there was anything to eat yet. The hotel is being renovated, which it needs. Getting there by public transport means a walk up a hill and it’s a bit out of the way. There are nicer, more dog-friendly hotels along the route. We came back this time because of an itison gift we didn’t want to waste, as we love visiting pitlochry. We’ll keep visiting, just won’t spend our money staying here again.

The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were excellent, and the changing facilities were good too. We also found the staff at The Hydro friendly and helpful. There’s a big, lovely lounge and bar, with its own art deco charm, and the Saturday night entertainment was jolly. Our room and the sitting room next to it were both spacious and warm, with a TV in each. Breakfast had loads of choice and was great. The first impression of the hotel was that it looked shabby and dated, and nobody had told us parts were being renovated. Even so, we’d stay again.

We had a really good stay. The food was good, and both the pool and gym were excellent. Some parts of the hotel are tired, as they are in many hotels, but they’re working on them. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. Great job, we’d definitely come back and recommend it.

Our room had clearly been upgraded recently. It was really spacious and had a fantastic view. The refurbishments are still going on, but that didn’t cause us any issues. Breakfast was a fab buffet with something for everyone, and the bar staff were brilliant. One guy in particular went above and beyond. Really enjoyed our stay, and we’d definitely stay again.

The dining room service was great, especially Brittany, who made us feel so welcome. We had four fantastic days at the Pitlochry Hydro, with first class breakfasts and very good evening meals. We’d booked half board thinking we might eat out some evenings, but there was no need. Great value and a great location. We recommend staying here and will be back.
